MTN Roaming Customers to Pay Less

Release date:5/9/2008

Kampala, Uganda: MTN customers roaming in South Africa, Botswana, Swaziland and Zambia can now talk more at less cost following the introduction of MTN Preferred Roaming, a product of the telecommunications company’s  partnership with  sister operations in these countries.

MTN PRO Sheila Kangwagye said that the product which will offer preferential tariffs to MTN customers has been developed to increase convenience and allow MTN customers to enjoy more talk time at less cost without the hassle of changing numbers. “We know our customers prefer to maintain the same contact number even when they travel. It is therefore appropriate to provide them with a service that allows them to enjoy friendly tariffs as well.”

Customers are required to fulfill all roaming requirements to enjoy the service as well as choose MTN on their handsets when roaming in any one of these countries.

Preferential roaming tariffs notwithstanding, customers will also enjoy free incoming calls and preferential MTN Mobile Internet tariffs in the MTN SEA (Southern & East Africa) roaming region.

The MTN preferred roaming service will initially be available to MTN talk time customers only, and the service can be activated manually through the connectivity settings on one’s handset.

In addition to the above Southern Africa countries, MTN roaming services are also operational in Kenya, Tanzania and most recently Rwanda.
