Kicking off into the 2nd half... A Casual Laborer wins 7th MTN Goal of Goals House

Release date:4/14/2010

Kampala, Uganda: The MTN Goal of Goals promotion has created seven homeowners and dramatically changing the lives of a trader from Nateete, a shopkeeper from Kamuli, a primary school teacher from Mbale, a driver from Kumi, a plumber from Mukono and now a casual laborer from Hoima.
Fazier Kasamba (photo: far left), the casual laborer from Hoima could hardly believe his luck as he was presented keys to the fully furnished house at Namugoona Estate.
“I have spent a good part of my life digging for people to earn a living. The extra cash I get I buy airtime to keep in touch with friends and relatives. It is too much for me to believe what direction my life is going to take.” he said.
Kasamba was joined by the six previous winners as he received keys to his new home in a ceremony to mark the promotion’s halfway stage where the remaining five houses will be given out in the last five weeks before the kick-off of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa in June.
Speaking while handing over the key to the house, MTN General Manager Human Resources, Mr. Michael Sekadde expressed satisfaction with the response to the promotion and urged MTN customers to continue participating by using at a minimum of UGX 2,000 every week; because there are still five houses and many other prizes to be won.  “It is clear that many lives have been changed by this promotion and as MTN we take pride that these people will live and experience the World Cup dream in a manner that they will never forget for as long as they live”
He added that as the promotion moves to its ultimate stage, it was important to recognize the impact it has had on the lives of ordinary people and that is why the seventh winner was joined by the previous six winners and their families. “At this stage it’s important to bring together all those whose lives have been positively change by the promotion and also to thank all those that have contributed in one way or the other in making it a success up to this stage”
The MTN Goal of Goals promotion rewards those who use MTN airtime after a draw that is carried out every Sunday with a live announcement on NTV and UBC. Apart from the furnished apartments, there are also Sony 32” Plasma TV sets, Sony DVD Home Theatre Systems and LG refrigerators, all selected to enhance the experience of the winners during the coming World Cup season.
The results of the final winners are verified and certified by renowned accounting and auditing firm, Ernst & Young.
