MTN cuts VoiceSMS Tariffs

Release date:2/4/2010
Kampala, Uganda: MTN Uganda has reduced the VoiceSMS tariffs within the MTN family for the entire month of February, a move that will give its subscribers a more affordable opportunity to celebrate love in the Valentines month.
Besides further endearing the brand to its customer base, MTN Segment Manager Gasper Mbowa said, “MTN’s desire is to always maintain relevance to its customers by offering services that respond to their particular concerns at a given time”.
The charges for the service, which is available to both prepaid and postpaid customers, have been reduced to UGX 50 per VoiceSMS from the usual UGX 90, UGX 140 and UGX 160 during discount, off peak and peak times respectively.
Speaking in regard to the offer, Mbowa revealed that Voice SMS offers the unique opportunity to users to attach emotions to their messages. “During this month, however, besides attaching emotions to your messages, you’ll be doing it for less. As a brand our aim is to always ensure that we offer relevant services to our customers that surely add value to their lives. And this being the Valentines month, we are sure Voice SMS comes in handy,” Mbowa added.
However, Mbowa clarified that, the revised VoiceSMS rates will only apply for MTN to MTN messaging; normal rates will apply while sending to other networks.
